Looking back on 2018

Started out a new year once again with another Hans Olson wall calendar, a calendar I make each year with photos I've taken from Hans Olson gigs.  I've been doing this since 2008 and this was calendar #10.  See below.

January 9, went to the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) Theatre to see Ramblin' Jack Elliot.

January 14, photographed the 2017 Arizona Blues Hall of Fame (ABHOF) Induction Ceremony for Mike Eldred at the Rhythm Room.  Click here for all photos.

February 3, went to the Scottsdale Western Spirit Museum of the West to see the "The American West in Film and Television: Wrecks and Effects ‒ The Stuntmen" show.

February 5, went to Coolidge to have lunch with some fellow classmates from Clarksville High School (classes of 1958 & 1959), lunch was at the Gallopin' Goose.

February 23, went to the Mesa Arts Center to see John McEuen.

March 2, went to the West Alley BBQ with Jack Shell and Bob Ray to see a Hans Olson show.

March 20, made a 165 mile motorcycle ride south on a 2015 Indian Scout motorcycle and saw the California Zephyr at the Maricopa Amtrak station, the Domes near Casa Grande, and the Veterans Memorial in Sacaton.  Click here for all photos.

April 8,  completed & ordered 2017 Arizona Music and Entertainment (AMEHOF) photo book (68 pages, 13 X 10 inches).

April 21, went to the Listening Room in Phoenix to see Eric Ramsey and Hans Olson.

May 30, visited the Buddy Stubbs Motorcycle Museum in Phoenix.

June 7, made a 194 mile motorcycle ride to Yarnell, Arizona on a 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 900 LT, had breakfast at the Ranch House Restaurant in Yarnell.  Click here for all photos.

June 12, went over to the Polaris dealer and looked at the Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle, they didn't have any for test rides at that time.

June 15, had lunch with Ed and Kristen Guerra and their teenage son Reece at the Old Ellsworth Brewing Company in Queen Creek.  Ed had just recently purchased a 2002 Corvette.

July 1, went kayaking on Lake Pleasant with the Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) group.  A total of 12 kayakers went in this group.  Click here for all photos.

July 20, On his flight back to California from Illinois, Walter Cress had an unexpected overnight layover in Phoenix (due to a delayed flight out of Dallas), so we met and killed a few hours the following morning (Friday 07-20-18) by stopping by the Tempe Center for the Arts, and later had beer and nachos at Gordon Biersch Brewing Company on Mill Avenue in Tempe.  Click here for all photos.

August 22:  Good news, received results on Prostate Biopsy, "Benign prostatic tissue" on all 12 locations.

September 24, completed and ordered 2019 Hans Olson wall calendar.  Had to do it early this year as Apple was ending its photo printing service after 16 years, last day to submit anything was September 30.  This may be the last Hans Olson wall calendar I make.

October 10, made a 228 mile roundtrip ride to Gila Bend on a 2012 Honda Rebel 250, rode through Liberty and Buckeye, saw the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (the biggest power plant in America) in Tonopah, then down old US 80 and saw the old Arlington Cattle Ranch, Gillespie Dam bridge, 3 Solar Plants, Gila Bend 9-11 Memorial Park, had lunch at Sofia's Mexican Restaurant, and a stop at Holt's Shell station before heading home via Maricopa.  Click here for all photos.

December 9, went to the AMEHOF annual Holiday Party, held at Flicka's Baja Cantina in Scottsdale.   I won $151 in a 50-50 raffle.

December 19th, went to the Time Out Lounge in Tempe, Arizona with Jack Shell and Bob Ray to see a Hans Olson gig.
